The Border Raiders defeated Deniliquin 3-1 on Saturday to move eight points clear at the top, and their position was mathematically confirmed when leading chaser Colts United FC lost to Castlemaine Goldfields Green 2-1 on Sunday.
Colts still have three games remaining to the Border Raiders’ two, but trail them by 11 points, while Swan Hill is eight back from Echuca-Moama with two games remaining.
It means the local side will be regular season champions and will enter the finals series as the number one seed when it begins on September 13.
At this stage, the semi-final would be another match-up with Deniliquin.
As the premier, the Border Raiders will be able to consider promotion to League 1 over the offseason.
Subject to the discretion of Football Victoria, the club is entitled to move up, provided it meets the guidelines of the higher league, including the requirement to field a reserves side next season.
