The match marked a significant turning point for Blighty, breaking their winless streak from 2023 in spectacular fashion and reigniting the team’s confidence and determination.
Right from the outset, Blighty asserted their authority on the field, showcasing superior skill and strategy that left Yarroweyah struggling to keep pace.
Blighty’s relentless offensive pressure and staunch defence proved too much for their opponents, enabling them to maintain control of the game from start to finish.
The impact of the new additions and the club’s young, skilful talents - like Jack and Luke Charlton, Isaac Suckling, and Bede Orr - was evident throughout the game, with each player making significant contributions to Blighty’s success.
Whether it was Beppe Daly’s precision kicking and high marking ability at centre half-back, Ed King’s dynamic running and goal-scoring prowess, Matt Haberfield’s strategic positioning and goal sense, Kai Bloomfield’s agility at centre half-forward and in the midfield, or Cooper Mitchell’s dominance in the ruck, each newcomer left an indelible mark on the match.
With a comprehensive performance that showcased both defensive solidity and attacking prowess, Blighty emerged triumphant with a convincing 81-point victory over Yarroweyah.
The win not only highlights Blighty’s tactical acumen but also underscores their ability to execute a game plan with precision and discipline.
Individual performances were exemplary as players embraced their defensive responsibilities before seamlessly transitioning to support the team’s attacking endeavours.
Rusty Milward, Andrew Simpson, and club captain Aaron Litchfield led by example, showcasing leadership and resilience as they guided their teammates through the game plan with unwavering focus.
From the opening bounce, Blighty demonstrated a disciplined and organised defensive structure that stifled Yarroweyah’s attacking efforts.
By prioritising defensive solidity and then swiftly transitioning to exploit open spaces, Blighty effectively controlled the tempo of the game and kept their opponents under constant pressure.
Congratulations go to Dane Leyden on his first time as a playing assistant coach and first game for the club. Also, to Kevin Kerr in his first senior game for the club.
A big thanks goes to Jonny Mitchell for stepping up.
In a display of seamless integration and skilful execution, Blighty’s senior team showcased their depth and talent in a commanding victory over Yarroweyah.

Reserves:
What a great day for our reserves lads down at Hopper Valley.
The boys came out blasting with a goal in the opening seconds.
In what I think may have shocked a few of them, but then they quickly realised the satisfaction and putting their heads down, slammed on another four in the first.
This was an amazing achievement as we only started with 15 on the ground as Brock Thomson and Brett Napier were digging for worms down some back road and unable to find their way on time.
The Hoppers came back with the advantage of the wind in the second, and our boys were clinging on to only a five-point lead and beginning to blow.
Thomson and Napier arrived early in the third, having an immediate impact, gathering numerous possessions, offering some relief to our boys and giving them a chance to catch a breath.
The Hoppers threw everything at us and even tried to sneak an extra player on, but our boys finally broke them and ran away with the game.
Our forwards didn’t let us down.
It was a great team effort; well done.
So now I hope you boys understand the rule: you don’t come off unless you need a defib.
Let’s do it again, Redeyes.
Final score: Blighty 15.3 (93) def Yarroweyah 9.8 (62).
Fourths:
Blighty Fourths were defeated by Yarroweyah.

Some of the kids from last year have grown, so we’ve got to make sure we look after our gear.
