The A1s have been hunting down Kiewa for fourth spot the last few weeks. After beating second placed Yarrawonga two weeks ago, bowlers thought job done only to find Kiewa had beaten top side Wodonga.
So last Tuesday Benalla played Wangaratta away and managed to sneak into the four with a 64-53 win, the winning rinks Sam Beaton 33-14 Peter Brock 20-18 and Trevor Exton 11-21.
Benalla now plays Wangaratta again at Corowa Civic in the first final.
The A2s played Corowa RSL at home and were beaten 50-70 in a contested game Jack Lia 17-20, Bill Armstrong 21-24 and Rob Lockwood 12-26.
The A3s played Mansfield at home going down narrowly 55-58 to the top team with Remo Ascenzo 21-11, Graeme Greene 21-21 and Ian Capp 13-26.
The B1s travelled to Moyhu and were dominated in a 29-94 loss, always a challenge on their carpet. The rinks were James Wood 10-28, Jeremy Boruch 8-30 and Bill Broderick 11-36.
The men’s and women’s minor singles kick off Sunday and the next Sunday sees the semi-finals and finals of 100 up, also the final of the junior singles between Jack Berry and Alex Briggs.
The club also wishes its singles champions Di Wilson and Stuart Wills great bowling in the champ of champs.
