Fifty must be the magic number in Jerilderie at present.
During the last month, one 50th birthday and two 50th wedding anniversaries have been celebrated by Jerilderie locals.
Adam McFarlane and his family and friends had a recent happy gathering at The Colony Inn Hotel to mark Adam’s half-century.
Bev and Maurie Lawton and Lorraine and Alan Valerius have recently celebrated their respective 50th wedding anniversaries on October 6.
They each had escapes to unique places to mark the occasion.
Best wishes to all those people.

Parishioners of St Joseph’s Catholic Church arrived at last Sunday’s Mass to find that their Parish Hall had finally been demolished after much conjecture about when the deed would take place.
The hall, used by parishioners and the school community, had been declared no longer safe, and its demise was considered a necessity.
Whether the hall is replaced is a decision for greater minds.

Applicants are asked to submit an essay of at least 1000 words, based on a quote from Sir John Monash: “Depend upon it, the only hope for Australia is the ballot box and an educated electorate”.

Entries close on Friday, November 3, at 4pm.
They can be submitted to the general manager, Murrumbidgee Council, PO Box 96, Jerilderie, 2716, or delivered to council offices in either Jerilderie, Coleambally or Darlington Point.
