Local Land Services has welcomed new board members to help shape the strategic direction of the organisation in both the Riverina and Murray Regions.
Two new board members have joined the Riverina board - Lisa Anderson from near Wagga and Elizabeth Lyne from Cootamundra.
One new member has been added to the Murray board, with Airlie Landale from near Deniliquin appointed alongside returning board member Edwina Hayes.
Local Land Services boards are made up of a mix of ministerially appointed and elected members, with staggered terms to ensure consistent ongoing leadership is provided to the organisation.
Lisa Anderson is a partner of Elwood Pastoral Co, a family sheep farming and cropping enterprise, located 25km from Wagga Wagga.
She has experience in leadership and engagement across a wide range in the agricultural sector and a commitment to good governance.
Lisa graduated from the Australian Rural Leadership Program in 2022 and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
She is qualified in both law and economics, a member of the Meat and Livestock Australia (Red Meat Panel) and chairs the Agrifutures Pasture Seeds Advisory Panel. She is also an EvokeAg committee member.
Elizabeth Lyne has been appointed to numerous government and not-for-profit boards as a consumer and skilled based director over the past 10 years, including the NSW Rural Assistance, NSW Responsible Gambling Fund, Crown Holiday parks Land Manager, and Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network.
She is a qualified accountant with more than 25 years of experience and also runs a mixed farming enterprise with her husband, a third-generation farmer at Cootamundra.
Riverina Chair Barney Hyams says board succession is an important part of our strategic commitment to growing Local Land Services.
“Local Land Services boards support our on-ground work focused on securing the long-term sustainability of our natural resources and agricultural industries in NSW,” said Barney.
“While we are keen to welcome Lisa and Elizabeth and their fresh perspectives to the board, I also want to acknowledge the experience and commitment of our outgoing board members Elke Cleverdon and Diana Gibbs who will finish up in February.
“They have both provided invaluable input to shape our board decisions and strategic support to our frontline staff and customers and we wish her well for the future.”
Airlie Landale’s extensive experience across the areas of finance, strategy, innovation, technology and digital, risk management, business development, and marketing will be an asset to the Murray LLS board.
A farm owner in Murray, she holds a board position with Rural Aid, and previously held positions with Paraway Pastoral Company and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Airlie has been acknowledged as a young rural leader, scholar and innovator on several occasions due to the work she has done on a national stage after founding Farm Table, an agricultural knowledge-exchange platform.
She has formal qualifications in commerce, agricultural and resource economics, was named a ‘Tomorrow Maker’ by the AMP Foundation and was a RAS NSW Rural Young Achiever and Woolworths Agribusiness Scholar.
The Murray Board also welcomes the reappointment of Edwina Hayes.
