The project, steered by the Tocumwal Community Development Committee (TCDC), was officially launched with the lighting of the tree on Friday, July 17.
Community members gathered for the occasion, with Berrigan Shire Mayor Julia Cornwell McKean among those in attendance.
TCDC vice president Graham Priestley welcomed everyone and spoke about the background of the project, acknowledging the extensive planning, collaboration and behind the scenes, work that had gone into bringing the vision to life.
The TCDC funded the project with the support of financial contributions from Tocumwal Lions Club, Tocumwal Rotary, Tocumwal Foreshore Committee, Tocumwal IGA and Club Tocumwal.
The lighting system enables the tree to be illuminated in almost any colour, allowing it to recognise important awareness campaigns and memorial days, including the various ribbon days, Red Nose Day, Christmas and other festive occasions.

Get your tickets for the 2026 Community River Arts Inc Art Trail, which is set to be held on Saturday, August 15.
The event will run from 10am to 3pm across Tocumwal, Cobram, Finley, Yarroweyah and Barooga with a discovery of our creative community across the Murray River.
You can meet the creatives, ask questions, watch demonstrations in art and craft making and purchase items at studio door prices.
Tocumwal War Memorial Hall will host six exhibits in the line-up of more than 20 listed in the trail.

The market will be held at the Lions clubrooms on Adams St on Saturday, August 1 from 8.30am to 1pm. There will be morning tea available, and the entry fee is a gold coin donation.
