Berrigan Shire Council will join Riverina Regional Library (RRL) on July 1, 2024.
CEO Karina Ewer expressed enthusiasm about the transition, saying the collaboration with RRL represents “a pivotal moment in our ongoing dedication to providing exceptional service to our community”.
“Our foremost priority remains the enrichment of our members' experience and this union will undoubtedly achieve that goal,” Ms Ewer said.
"Through this transition, our members will gain access to over 4,000 additional eBooks and eAudiobooks via Borrowbox, along with an array of programs and events tailored to all age groups. From expanded options for themed Storytime sessions to engaging craft activities, there will be something for everyone.
“We understand the importance of continuity for our community user groups.
"Our dedicated library staff will continue to provide the same level of service, ensuring that members are greeted by familiar friendly faces every day.
“We are committed to offering even more to our community as we embark on this exciting new chapter."
RRL manager Karen Wendt said the organisation was “very excited” that Berrigan Shire would be joining its network.
“The RRL membership has grown so much over recent years that the transition process has become easier each time - for us and our new member councils,” Ms Wendt said.
Barooga, Berrigan, Finley and Tocumwal Libraries will gain access to more than 200,000 items in RRL’s shared physical collection.
“Berrigan Shire residents will enjoy an enormous range of new benefits, with the most notable being access to a broader range of collection items shared among our 18 branch libraries,” Ms Wendt said.
Covering an area of 44,248 sq km, with 18 branches and a mobile library, RRL is the largest regional library service in NSW.
Key benefits of RRL membership include:
• Access to the collections of all 18 branch libraries across the region – more than 200,000 items.
• More than 4000 additional eBooks and eAudiobooks provided by Borrowbox.
• Access to RRL’s programs and events
• Access to RRL’s Storytime kits and crafts
• Access to more than 200 book club kits – including DVD, Audiobook and eBook options
• Access to a broad range of eResources and online databases.
