Redeyes try to wrangle Katandra

Our young defenders kept those smiles up against strong shooters.

Well done, girls.

Thank you to our C-grade girls for stepping in at the last minute and Chelsea Weir for going up against the tall defenders.

These girls tried endlessly all day with a big smile.

The team did a great job of adjusting to lots of changes.

Although we didn’t come away with the win, the team worked hard all game.

We went down by nine goals in a hard-fought match.

The defence end worked tirelessly, getting lots of rebounds and turnovers.

C-reserve: Blighty 9 def by Katandra 43.

It was a tough game again this week against Katandra.

It was great seeing everyone have a go at different positions and having fun with it.

A huge thank you to the C-grade ladies and the single-game voucher player who played, making it possible to get out on the court.

Under-17s: Blighty 34 def by Katandra 38.

Redeyes travelled to Katandra for round four, and sadly, it wasn’t our day.

With a few position changes with two players out for the week, the girls were working on a different game plan.

For the most part they did very well.

With a lead at three-quarter time, we should have pulled away with a win.

Unfortunately, tight pressure in our goal ring from Katandra saw mistakes and fatigue take over, and we succumbed to a bitter loss.

However, a lot can be taken from the game, which is a great learning curve for all players, highlighting the need for continuous hard work to gain success.

Very impressive efforts once again from the under-15s who came from playing a game prior and continued to give 100 per cent.

Your efforts are much appreciated.

Special mention goes to Eliza Weir, who made her 17s debut and took the court with poise and dedication, shining in attack.

Her sister, Chelsea Weir, worked tirelessly in the centre, achieving the top award for the day.

Also, Ruby Caruso was placed in goal shooter and received a second award for her discipline and team morale; good on you, Ruby.

Under-15s: Blighty 24 def Katandra 23.

The under-15s had a fantastic game against Katandra.

They kept everyone on their toes, with there always being a few points in it.

Our communication on the court from our captain, Ruby Pisasale, and vice-captain Izzy Pearn allowed us to grab loose balls and move the ball down the court to our accurate shooters.

Lucy Pisasale and Eliza Weir never gave up their fight for the ball in the midcourt and practising the front cuts we had done at training.

Under-13s: Blighty 23 def Katandra 17.

Another fantastic performance from the young Redeye group.

Newly announced co-captains Lily and Savannah led by example with determination and reliability in a tough match.

The utilisation of the rolling sub allowed for midcourt players Kaydnce, Lexi, Ellie and Lena to provide fresh legs.

Ella and Shelby again showed versatility in attack and defence, and Amelia continued to shine.

Another tough game for girls.

Isla drove at the ball, creating space on the court.

Carla and Georgie had tight defence down the court, with the rest of the team making passages of play down the court to the goal ring.
