Phil particularly had some kind words about the efforts that went into preparing for the weekend, which are shared following:
“The thing that has impressed me most about Finley since I arrived here 11 years ago has been the quality of the volunteers we have in this town, and the amazing service these extraordinary people have given over many years.
“In some small ways I have been honoured to join those people.
“Often this volunteer work is carried out away from the public gaze and I would like just to comment on something I observed (last) week.
“As you well know we have had some steady, sometimes quite heavy, rain here in the past week and on two of those days I chanced upon my friend David Webb and friends out in the rain diligently preparing the showgrounds for the dog trials this weekend.
“I thought that their efforts in difficult circumstances should not go unreported.”
We agree, and you can read a report on the event on page five of today’s edition.

What better way to spend a cold winter’s morning than getting together with friends in the warm Finley Uniting Church Hall and watching a good movie.
Especially when it is followed by morning tea, and the opportunity to chat with the friendly people around you.
Well, you can do exactly that tomorrow morning.
The movie will begin at 10am and will include morning tea.

Finley Lions Club members have still been unable to contact the mystery winner of the previous Saturday’s wood raffle.
However, they are pleased to report that Joey Bateman was the lucky winner of last Saturday’s trailer load of wood.
Members of the club are most appreciative of the continued support of the local community.
