Senator Davey, who represents NSW for The Nationals, said she will be operating temporarily out of an office space in Cressy St while work to identify and set up a permanent office continues.
Her temporary office will be directly opposite the office of Member for Murray Helen Dalton, in office space previously used by Regional Development Australia.
Senator Davey expects her temporary office to be opened in a few weeks, and to have a staff of four.
Maree Flagg, who was employed by former NSW Nationals Member for Murray Austin Evans, has already been appointed as the Senator’s office manager.
Suitable candidates for other roles are being sought, including active recruitment for an administration officer.
‘‘I will be setting up, in between my commitments in Canberra, over the next month,’’ Senator Davey said.
‘‘I will have a temporary office to start as there are a lot of requirements for a permanent parliamentary office that have to be satisfied.
‘‘The temporary office will get me started while they seek an appropriate location. I’m not sure exactly where that will be, but it will be in Deniliquin.
‘‘Because of the requirements the time frame for the permanent office is six to 12 months, but I am glad to have been given approval to operate out of a Deniliquin office.’’
Senator Davey spent her first week in Parliament earlier this month.
She said with the amount of legislation required to be debated by the Senate, she does not expect her maiden speech to be scheduled until at least September.
