The major recipient of funds was the Tocumwal War Memorial Hall Committee, for the purpose of renovating the heritage front doors of the hall.
Other organisations to benefit include Tocumwal Rural Fire Brigade, Dutch Thunder Wildlife (Koonoomoo), Finley High School Agriculture Department, Tocumwal’s Little Explorers, Tocumwal Public School, Sacred Heart Primary School, and Moira Food Share Cobram.
The Optimists thank Meagan Donnell of March’s IGA Tocumwal who organised $500 worth of food and essential items to be delivered to Moira Food Share, which services residents of Tocumwal.
Moira Food Share coordinator James Rouel said, on average, 3,500 residents of Moira and Berrigan Shires access its services monthly.
This equates to approximately 10 per cent of the population.
The Optimists now are looking forward to 2024 to continue their fundraising activities and their support of local organisations.
New members are always encouraged and welcomed.
