There has been plenty of chatter around the community about Finley Public School’s new fence, installed to improve safety and security.
But you may not have noticed the school also has a brand new permanent principal.
Owen Gill joined the staffing team this term, after being the successful candidate of the merit selection process held earlier in the year.
The school staff are thrilled to have a leader with a wealth of management and leadership experience across several different school settings in the Riverina and Far South Coast areas.
In his first few weeks, he has focused on getting to know staff and building whole school collaborative processes.
His passion for supporting young people is also evident, spending plenty of his time supporting students in the playground and in the classroom.
In his spare time, Mr Gill loves the outdoors.
He grew up camping and fishing and while he prefers the salt water, he is looking forward to exploring the local waterways.
Staff have dug deep to find he has plenty of experience in community sport, including soccer and cricket.
Mr Gill also defends himself as a Carlton supporter, following them long before their last premiership.
When it comes to his longer term vision for Finley Public School, Mr Gill says he wants to further enhance the trust and respect across the broader community.
Prospective families are encouraged to contact the school and make a meeting time with Mr Gill to learn more about the quality education and support Finley Public School provides.
Parents and carers interested in enrolling their child in 2024 are invited to attend the Kindergarten parent information session that will be held next Wednesday, August 30, beginning at 6pm in the school library.
