The project will transform the facility into a contemporary aged care home, with upgrades including new bathrooms, the relocation of three resident rooms, improved social spaces and amenities and roof replacement in refurbished areas.
Moyola Lodge chief executive Polly Devine said extensive planning had gone into the project.
“The renewal of Moyola Lodge will provide long-term community infrastructure for future generations that want to age in Tatura,” she said.
“We are so thrilled to report that we have officially broken ground and look forward to updating you as the work progresses through the stages.ˮ
The works are being supported by a $7,902,149 Residential Care grant from the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, with Moyola Lodge contributing additional funding through capital and fundraising.
Victorian company BowdenCorp has been appointed as the construction management partner, while Melbourne-based design group Studiofour is overseeing architectural, interior and exterior design.
Site manager David Rykers said work on site was already gaining momentum.
“Bowden is thrilled to be overseeing the works on this project,” he said.
“Bowdenʼs services are well established within the Goulburn Valley. Weʼve delivered on various local projects.
“We are excited to make Moyola a part of that portfolio.”
The refurbishment has been divided into six stages to minimise disruption for residents and reduce financial risk during construction.
The project is expected to be completed by May 2028.
