Chambers Rosewood Vineyards and Winery headlined the Rutherglen representation at the awards, finishing inside the Top 10 wineries in Australia.
Last year, Chambers took out the Fortified Wine of the Year category with their ‘Grand Muscat’ and had three other fortified wines in the top 10 of that category.
After finishing as 21st winery overall in 2025, owner and sixth generation winemaker Stephen Chambers said finishing ninth this year is a big step up.
“What an extraordinary honour for our family and team,” Stephen said.
“After six generations of dedication to viticulture, winemaking, and farming, this recognition means so much to us.”
Fifth generation winery owner Jules Campbell said their Merchant Prince Muscat is so delicious it doesn’t need to be enjoyed with food, but if you must, an aged cheddar or a piece of dark chocolate would be perfect.
Campbell’s Winery finished on top of the Fortified Wine of the Year category for 2026 with their ‘Merchant Prince Rare Rutherglen Muscat’.
Fifth generation owner Jules Campbell said the recognition was fantastic and it creates more awareness around Rutherglen muscats, which are a beautiful and iconic part of the region.
“We just want to make great wines that people want to enjoy,” Jules said.
“The Merchant Prince is an icon of our region in Rutherglen.
“It’s a wine that you don’t get to try every day, it’s truly amazing.”
Pfeiffer wines have again been judged a Top 50 winery in Australia by The Real Review, reinforcing their standing within the Rutherglen wine community.
Reinforcing Rutherglen’s claim as one of the best wine regions in the country, Stanton and Killeen Winery was also a finalist in the Fortified Wine of the Year category with their 2022 Vintage Fortified, and Pfeiffer Wines was judged one of the Top 50 wineries in the country.
