Fr Frederik and his wife, Rev Gemma, are delighted to take up the position as co-priests and are looking forward to becoming part of the local community.
“We have good vibes about our position here,” Fr Frederik said.
The couple came to Finley after spending three years in Griffith, where they spent one year as deacons and two years as a priests.
They were approached by the Bishop when he visited Hobart, and encouraged them to come to the Riverina district.
“We took up the Bishop’s offer as we felt it was time to expand our position of ministry and the opportunity to become more involved,” Rev Gemma said
Fr Frederik was delighted to have his parents come from the Netherlands for five weeks and to be there for his commissioning.
Rev Gemma’s parents and other family members were also in attendance.
The young couple are looking forward to making their own connection in the parish and welcoming members of all ages to the church community.
They admit they haven’t had much time to participate in sport, however they did enjoy playing badminton in Griffith and would like to try golf while in Finley.
