The school's agriculture department and students in the school's show team hosted an open day on Thursday for parents and community members.
Teachers Gary Webb and Robyn O'Leary said it was a great opportunity for the parents to see what their children are involved in at school.
It also gave many of the school's local supporters a chance to visit the school and see the agriculture department in full swing.
Mrs O'Leary particularly thanked the Community Op Shop in Tocumwal and Murray Hut CWA for donating hay and straw to feed the cattle and sheep, without which she said the program would not be as strong as it is today.
"It is this generosity and support which affords us the opportunity to provide real life, hands on learning experiences to our students," Ms O'Leary said.
Mr Webb said show preparation is ramping up, which he said is an important learning process for the students.
"Presentation is crucial at shows to accentuate an animal's features, so the animal is appealing to a judge," Mr Webb said.
"The students had the opportunity to show their families the cattle they work with each day and explain what is done to prepare livestock for a show."
At Sunday's Finley Show, Finley High School presented 13 beef carcase cattle, six Shorthorn stud cattle and nine Poll Dorset sheep in the Finley.
They now set their sights on the Melbourne Show later this month.
