Running from October 3 to 11, the Shepparton Series will bring designers, artists and creatives together through exhibitions, tours, talks, styling sessions and workshops.
Among the visiting creatives is acclaimed designer Mr Isogawa, who will host a discussion and a textile workshop as part of the program.
Although his shibori spiral workshop is sold out, his talk on Saturday evening still has tickets available.
Mr Isogawa will share his experience establishing his label after moving from Japan to Australia, as well as his approach to creativity and textiles.
“It’s quite exciting to share my knowledge, my experience of creativity,” he said.
The designer will also discuss what it was like to sit for a portrait that went on to feature in the 2026 Archibald Prize, which is on display at the Shepparton Art Museum.
For Mr Isogawa, the festival has highlighted the wealth of creative talent outside Australia’s major cities.
“It's great to see that the Australian Fashion Festival is recognising the importance of regional areas,” he said.
“It is a beautiful idea for us to reconnect, and inspire each other.”
The designer said he might never have visited Shepparton if not for the festival putting the region on the map.
He is looking forward to seeing the region come alive throughout the festival.
“I hope people in Shepparton feel inspired,” he said.
“I look forward to being inspired as well.”
Following some postponements, the festival will include 15 events across nine days, with all events either free or costing less than $60.
Australian Fashion Festival creative director Damien Woolnough said the series would bring visiting designers, artists and local talent together.
“This really is about opening up a dialogue between local and visiting talent that everyone can learn from. This is how fashion moves forward.”
Mr Woolnough said the region’s multicultural community and creative culture made Shepparton an ideal setting for the festival, particularly while the Archibald Prize was on display.
“I want the people of Shepparton and visitors to immerse themselves in the creativity of fashion and have the opportunity to be entertained, informed and perhaps gain some extra courage to express themselves every morning when getting dressed,” he said.
