Farmer support for expo

Farmers were out in force in September for one of the biggest days on the agricultural calendar - the Dairy and Farming Expo at Korumburra.

With dozens of exhibitors from across Australia, visitors had the opportunity to compare products, explore new technologies, discover innovative farming solutions and speak directly with the people behind the industry's leading brands.

The Dairy Expo is one of Gippsland's premier agricultural events, with funds raised contributing more than $650,000 back into the local community through Lions projects and community initiatives.

A major highlight for 2026 was the introduction of the inaugural Dairy Expo Clearing Sale, proudly sponsored by Nutrien Ag Solutions.

For many years, respected local dairy farmer Graeme Lancey dreamed of bringing a farm equipment clearing sale to the expo. This year the vision become a reality.

Auction organiser Cliff Wallace said the auction was well supported and raised $12,000 to go toward the Gardiner Foundation New Zealand Study tour.

“We had a lot of support from people providing items for the auction and buyers on the day and we are really happy with the result,” Cliff said.

Dairy farmer Kelly Boyd said the expo provided an opportunity to catch up with people and have a look at what is around and view the latest technology.

Dairy farmer Peter Joyce installed two Lely astronaut robots on his Strezlecki farm in 2021, he took the time to drop in and have a chat to the Lely team at their stand.

“I was over milking and looking to free up my time so I installed a couple of robots - the information they provide is amazing and its like herd testing without the work,” Peter said.

Small farmers John and Anne Palmer like to come to the expo every year to have a look around and see what is new and participate in local health checks.
