Clubs combine to ‘Sock it to Cancer’

Berrigan’s netballers donned bright socks for the cancer services fundraiser.

Rivalries were temporarily suspended on Saturday when the Berrigan Saints hosted a Terry Socks it to Cancer fundraiser.

The visiting Katamatite sides joined the Saints in donning bright coloured socks for the day, and raising much needed funds for regional cancer services.

“The two clubs joined in with the Terry Socks it to Cancer fundraising drive with all money raised going towards new facilities, services and research at the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre,” the club said.

“So with that, multicoloured socks flooded both the netball and football teams.

“Opponents that were once fierce rivals became comrades in an attempt to raise money for a cause so close to the hearts of players and spectators.

“Between both clubs, and with many generous donations from both communities, the fundraising was able to accumulate a massive $7024 - all of it ready to go to such a great cause that hits home for so many club people.”
