The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) has finalised its annual review of WaterNSW’s regulated charges for bulk water services to apply from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025.
IPART has determined to maintain the charges set under the 2021 determination, allowing for inflation, following its annual review of WaterNSW’s bulk water service charges.
IPART chair Carmel Donnelly said the review considered charges that apply in the nine regulated NSW valleys in the Murray-Darling Basin and the Fish River Water Supply Scheme.
“Our final decision is to maintain the charges set under the 2021 determination,” she said.
“This means that increases in charges will be limited to inflation of 3.6 per cent from July 1, 2024.
“We have not found evidence of a sustained shift in water sales compared to the demand forecast we used to set prices in the 2021 determination.
“Therefore, we do not consider it to be reasonably necessary to vary WaterNSW’s charges in the Murray-Darling Basin and Fish River for 2024-25 except for inflation.
“We will consider the key factors affecting the availability and demand for water in regional and rural New South Wales during our next comprehensive review of WaterNSW’s charges which is due to commence in September 2024.”
The final report and supporting information are available on IPART’s website.
