Berrigan service and community groups have donated just over $2500 to help local swimmer Meriam Nelson-Creed achieve her dreams of competing in a national swimming competition.

A cheque was presented to the local swimmer at a sausage sizzle and fundraiser held at the Berrigan War Memorial Swimming Pool.
Meriam’s aim is to get to the National Age Championships on the Gold Coast this April.
The total donated includes $500 each from the Berrigan Lions Club and Berrigan Men’s Shed, and $1600 from the Berrigan Red Cross.

An Australia Day breakfast is being provided by members of Berigan CWA this Friday.
The fully cooked Aussie breakfast is available for $20 per person, or $6 for school aged children under 12.
You also receive a raffle ticket. Everyone is welcome to attend between 7.30am and 9.30am.
The Berrigan Shire Australia Day celebrations are being held in the park.
CWA appreciates the support on Australia Day which has been happening every year since 1988.
Funds raised from CWA functions go towards supporting the Berrigan community.

Congratulations to Kohen Haddrell and Jordan Swann on being selected to represent the Southern Riverina Cricket Council side playing against Murrumbidgee last Sunday at Hay.
Kohen was given the honour of being captain for the side.
The boys had a great win, with Jordan contributing 26 runs and taking 3/7 off seven overs.
Both enjoyed the experience of rep cricket.

The squash club is up and running with lots of interest, and it is great to see so many people using this facility.
The first comp will begin on February 5. Entry fee is $25, and the comp is open to all ages.

Congratulations to Matt Whelan who played in the Webex Golf Series last Saturday and Sunday at Barooga.
It was a great experience playing with international players.
Although Matt left a few shots out there, the experience at playing golf at this level was a great opportunity.

Barefoot Bowls is back - every Wednesday evening from 6.15pm for 6.30 start.
It will be held for a six week period starting on February 7, and finishing March 13.
Grab your friends or workmates and form a team of three. New bowlers are especially welcome and bowls are available.
Cost is $10 per evening, with a free sausage sizzle after play.
A free introductory and practice night will be held on January 31 for all who are interested in getting some practice and learning the game.
