NSW Police Force Commissioner Mick Fuller Police paid a visit to the border last week, and took advantage of the hospitality along with his officers.
Meals and snacks have been prepared for authorities since their arrival by a number of general locals, and out of the kitchen at the Tocumwal Golf & Bowls Club.
After discovering that many of the police and army personnel were staying at lodges connected to the club, marketing manager Bianca Bourke saw it as an opportunity to provide a much needed service.
She said since the club started the meal orders, border forces have had nothing but good feedback.
‘‘We have been bringing breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a snack for those who have over night duty, for those who can't duck down to a shop and get anything to eat over night.
‘‘We have had such good feedback, they are wrapped with the choice they get and have told
us how much they want to be posted back here.
‘‘They told us we've set the bar high for border patrol areas.
‘‘Each group has been very impressed with all of our communities spirit and kindness in welcoming them to our town."
Ms Bourke said the added advantage is keeping the club in business.
‘‘As a club, not being able to have Victorians visit us for dinner has hurt but we've been very lucky to have New South Wales Police on board.
‘‘We are so very grateful to have them here.’’
