It will fund a $58,000 amenities’ upgrade in Berrigan and a $21,000 improvement to pedestrian pathways in Finley.
The grants are part of a $3,174,823 package for show societies announced by the federal government on Friday.
The Berrigan Showground A&H Society will receive $58,024 for toilet renovations and upgrades, and maintenance work on its judges’ box.
Society president Neville Dalgliesh said the funding will allow much needed internal work on the amenities’ block.
“The block was built voluntarily back in 1957. While the outside structure won’t be changed, internally it will have painting and upgrades,” Mr Dalgliesh said.
“We’ve been applying for grants to do the upgrade for more than three years.
“During our show weekend we have about 200 campers, so we need adequate facilities.
“They also get a lot of use from the football club.
“We want the work done as soon as possible and hope to start within three to four months.
“The timekeepers and judges’ box will also have a little work done to make it more comfortable for users.”
The Finley Showground will receive $20,900 to upgrade pedestrian pathways following an application submitted by Berrigan Shire Council.
Director corporate services Matt Hansen said the funding will help finish off and tidy up concreting around the clubrooms.
“It will also make It more wheelchair accessible.”
A total of 33 local showgrounds across southern NSW will receive funding under the program.
Deniliquin Pastoral and Agricultural Society will receive $201,190 to replace spectator seating and upgrade perimeter fencing.
