The Finley Ladies Open was played Friday with 46 golfers competing.
Golfers from Leeton, Deniliquin, Howlong, Commercial Albury, Tocumwal, Berrigan, Jerilderie, Cobram/Barooga, Strathmerton, Nathalia and Beechworth joined the local players in a successful event.
The event was sponsored by Mark II Automotive Tocumwal, with winners as follows:
A grade scratch - Sandie Cockayne (Strathmerton) 86; net - Kaye Sutton 92 on countback.
B grade scratch - Kath Klemke 95 on countback; net - Sharon Pyle 74 on countback.
C grade scratch - Pat Aitken (Deniliquin) 109; net - Esther Bolton (Deniliquin) 78.
Vets winner was Kath Klemke.
NTP: 3rd Jenny Day (Leeton), 13th Kim McCaw, 18th Glenda Marshall (Beechworth).
Ball winners: Jenni Choice, Sue Simpson 74; Helen Wastle 76; Deborah Pyke, Joanne Dean 77; Jenny Day, Sue Harris 78; Linda Rendell, Tina Bell, Enid Bain and Robyn Stevens 79.
The Finley ladies played in the Barooga Sporties sponsored stableford event last Wednesday.
The winner was Kim McCaw with 33 points.
NTP went to Joanne Dean on the 13th and ball winners were Margot Robertson (33), Glennice Martin (31) and Heather Daniel (30).
Tocumwal
Tuesday last week the ladies played Stroke Monthly Medal with Division Three gross and grade winner Beverly Campbell with 103/69 gross earning the medal.
Division One gross went to Petra Wilmot with 90 off the stick and drade winner was Kathleen Williams 74 and runner-up was Jo Boake 75.
Division Two gross and grade winner was Sharon Pyle, 94 off the stick and 73 net, runner-up was Shirley Desailly also on 73.
Division Three runner-up went to Margaret Anderson 72.
NTPs went to Shellei Clark 8th and 17th, pro pin Janine Taylor $50, while the putting comp was won by Sharon Pyle.
An even 100 men played stableford from the white markers on Wednesday, with Division One going to Adam Purtill with 38 points on countback from Lee Talbot.
David Gibbs took out Division Two with 43 followed by Michael Taylor 40.
Division Three was won by Matthew Wilson 42, runner-up was Lawrence Deering with 40.
Spencer Rutherford was the Division Four winner with 40 followed by Zol Zolnierczyk with 37.
NTPs went to Lee Talbot captain’s 2nd, Spencer Euthford captain’s 17th, pro pins captain’s 8th Lee Talbot $105.
Men’s Gold stableford winner was Graeme Sharp 36 points.
A total of 22 ladies and 66 men played stableford in the PALS Charity Day on Saturday.
Ladies Division One went to Kerri McKenna with 39 points followed by Janie Hills 36. Michelle Glanville was the Division Two winner with 35 and Dianne Dungan had 32.
NTP went to Shellei Clark 2nd.
Men’s Divison One winner was Denis Glanville with 39 followed by Shane Taggart 37.
Ryan McDiarmid was the Division Two winner with 37 and Phillip Dungan was runner-up on 36.
Division Three saw Robert Bingham taking the honors with 37 closely followed by Vene Mitchell 34.
NTPs went to Adam Mathews 2nd, Ronald Huy 18th.
Sunday saw 11 ladies playing stableford that saw Leanne Marshall taking the win with 38 points. NTP 2nd Shellei Collins.
Men’s stableford from the white markers saw Division One going to Kevin Clark 40 followed by John Thompson 39.
Terry McMahon was the Division Two winner with 41 and Joe Sacco was runner up with 36.
Division Three was won by Neville Attrill with 43 followed Leonard Redfern 38.
NTPs went to Jordon Geisler 2nd, Ross Sidebottom 17th.
Men’s Gold winner was Graeme Sharp with 37 followed by Laurence Rickard with 36.
Finley
At the Wednesday men’s stableford competition it was Bill Judd with 34 points who took the voucher. NTP on the 18th was Leo McNamara.
Ball competition winners were Barry Fahey and Bob Makkinga who each had 30 Points.
Rand Wilson claimed the Matt Daniel Plumbing NAGA trophy.
Bob Makkinga carded 33 net to collect the trophy at Thursday’s nine hole stroke competition.
Ball competition winners were Trevor McCaw (34) and Mick and John Taylor, who each had 35.5 net.
On Saturday there was a handy turn out to play in the Southern Riverina News stroke event.
Doug Smith with 70 net took the men’s trophy.
Helen Wastle with 72 net after countback was the winner of the ladies section. Helen also took out the ladies putting with 22 putts.
NTP on the 18th was Dave Cordell.
Ball competition winners were Grant Shaw (71), Sue Simpson (72), Rick Harris (72), Paul Storey (72), Alan Hand (73), Barry Fahey (73), Janet Delmenico (75), Heather Daniel (75).
Dave Cordell took the Ultra NAGA trophy.
Bob Makkinga with 40 stableford points claimed the men’s trophy at the Barooga Sporties event on Sunday.
Sue Simpson with 36 points took the ladies trophy.
NTP on the 18th was Paul Pinnuck.
Ball competition winners were Paul Pinnuck (35), Bill Judd (34), Darren John (34) and Janet Delmenico (29). Rick Harris collected the Ultra NAGA trophy.
Berrigan
Friday’s winner was Frank Albert (50-15-35), while runner-up was Joe Nicholls (49-10.5-38.5).
Putting was won by Edwina Morgan with 13 putts and ball winner was Jeff Stein (48-9-39).
Saturday’s winner saw Joe Nicholls (44-10.5-33.5) in front of Barry Browne (45-10-35).
Jeff Stein won the putting with 11 putts and Maria McDonnell was the ball winner (52-12.5-39.5).
Sunday saw young Matthew Whelan take the honours with a personal best round (91-24-67).
Runner-up was Gail Browne (78-9-69). Gail also won the putting with 25 putts, while ball winners were Fraser Haintz (87-18-69) and Frank Albert (101-30-101).
Friday and Saturday is 3pm hit-off and Sunday is 12.30pm. All welcome.
The next social golf and bowls day will be held on Sunday, April 14. More details next week.
