On winning the toss Jerilderie sent CYU into bat, immediately having the home side in trouble when Dylan Henery (4/5 off seven) cleaned up the wicket of J Jones with the second ball of the day.
CYU rallied, taking the long handle to Alex A’Vard (0/21 off one) which saw the combine’s score scoot along to 30 before Henery struck again, dismissing Josh Goldsworthy who had made a quick-fire 16.
Jacob Bovalino didn’t trouble the scorer, and when Matt Betts also went quickly, CYU were in deep trouble at 5/38.
The Demons continued their dominance with the ball, and with the combine’s tail failing to wag they finished all out for 68 in the 29th over.
Apart from Goldsworthy the only other batsman for CYU to reach double figures was Scott Daly, who made 12.
While Henery starred with the ball, Robert Marshall also finish as a multiple wicket-taker for Jerilderie, snaring two wickets for eight runs from 4.1 overs.
Grant Smith also had a big impact on the game in the field, effecting two run outs and taking a catch.
Jerilderie batsmen made hard work of chasing down CYU’s total with Henery (five) and Smith (six) falling cheaply before Mitch A’Vard steadied the ship, to be 21 not out when they passed the home side’s score.
Adam Boag chipped in with 13 runs and Luke Keating added 11 to help the visitors to victory.
Brad Church was CYU’s most successful bowler, taking 2/7 off his six overs.
This week Jerilderie take on Katamatite at Monash Park, in their final match for the home and away season.
It’s a must-win situation for the Demons, with a victory over the second placed Tigers seeing them still a chance to play finals if other results go their way.
