Provided organisers of the Berrigan and Finley Shows can guarantee safe social distancing, keep to the crowd cap and provide controlled access at entry points — and there are no further outbreak
concerns — their events will go ahead in the latter half of next year.
And Finley Show Society president Matt Mueller said it also means other regional shows held earlier in the year will offer the chance to have some fun and show livestock.
‘‘Deniliquin’s show is coming up sooner than ours — in March — so this will be a big boost for them,” Mr Mueller said.
“Having shows open for up to 5000 people is a good indication for our show, which will likely be on Sunday, September 5 in 2021.”
Berrigan Agricultural & Horticultural Society Inc president Neville Dalgliesh said the announcement has launched planning for their 2021 event, which will be in October.
‘‘We usually start our planning early and have everything booked and judges organised by about July,’’ he said.
‘‘We never reach over the capacity set by the government, so by the time October rolls around we should be ready to go.”
Mr Dalgliesh said the only roadblock to a normal event year now is another Coronavirus outbreak.
