The Office of Responsible Gambling Club (ORG) grants Category 3 Infrastructure Grants program has been sought after by the Berrigan Shire Council in collaboration with the Finley Football Netball Club and Finley Recreation Reserve Committee of Management.
The project will see the replacement of the netball courts and associated lighting at Finley Recreation Reserve at an estimated cost of $280,000.
Late last year the Council's original proposal was rejected by the ORG as local funding requirements were not met.
Council have resubmitted exactly the same application as last time – with one change.
The funding contribution to the project made by Finley Football Netball Club will be directed through the Finley Recreation Reserve Committee of Management – a volunteer committee of the Council.
This will satisfy the ORG requirement that 50 per cent of the total project cost is to come from the Council.
“The ORG grant is a competitive program and there is no guarantee that the Council’s application will be successful,” director of corporate services Matt Hansen said.
“The ORG have indicated that bushfire-affected areas will have priority.
“If the application is successful, the Council will need to seek quotes for the works in line with its procurement framework.”
