Water allocations revised

There has been a lift in Victorian water allocations.

Water allocations for Northern Victoria have been revised, with improvements to most systems.

The Murray system seasonal determination increases from 46 per cent of high-reliability water shares to 57 per cent HRWS. The Goulburn and Loddon systems increase from 42 per cent to 47 per cent.

The Broken system increases from 80 per cent to 83 per cent.

In addition to the 100 per cent HRWS previously announced, the seasonal determination for Campaspe system low-reliability water shares increases from 0 per cent LRWS to 55 per cent LRWS.

The Bullarook system is unchanged with 100 per cent HRWS and 100 per cent LRWS.

Resource Manager Mark Bailey said storage levels continued to rise and support seasonal determination increases.

“Recent rainfall has maintained healthy flows into the storages,” Dr Bailey said.

“This increases the amount of water available for allocation.

“Tributary flows downstream of Lake Eildon and Lake Hume are currently providing limited additional resource because the water can’t be stored in Waranga Basin and Lake Victoria respectively.

“Until demand for water increases, flows into the upstream storages will be the main contributors to increasing the volume of water available for allocation in the Murray and Goulburn systems.”

On the Murray system in NSW, the latest general security allocation is 18 per cent, and for high security, 97 per cent.
