Remembering Sam Neill: A life beyond the screen
Sam Neill leaves behind an extraordinary screen legacy and memories of a thoughtful, humorous man whose life reached far beyond acting.
19Β°COn the 13th of December 1968, you become my daddy. On the 9th March 2026, I lost you π
Words still feel inadequate for the depth of what I am feeling but I take comfort in knowing you are finally at peace π while my heart is heavy, it is also filled with gratitude for the life you gave us and the love that shaped who we became.
My brother and I never went without, we had the best of everything, not because of excess, but because you worked hard and made sure we were cared for, safe, and loved unconditionally π you always put us first.
One of my greatest memories is during our school holidays you would always take your annual leave so we could be together on family trips, adventures and travelling parts of Australia π¦πΊ
You were my inspiration in so many ways, your tough love, your honest advice (whether we liked it or not) and the way you pushed me to be the best version of myself are lessons I will never forget. You taught me resilience, responsibility and the value of standing on my own two feet, while always knowing you had my back π₯°
Memories of listening to music πΆ, dancing together, laughing and sharing moments that didn't need words. Those songs π΅ will forever carry peices of you, and every time I hear them I'll always feel close, "you can't hide those lying eyes".
Loosing you has been incredibly hard and watching you struggle with your health is an ache that will never fully leave, but I have a lifetime of love, guidance and memories that can never be taken from me π
I will always be your blue eyed girl and that bond will never fade, not with time, not with distance, not even with death π
Thank you for everything you gave us, for every sacrifice, every lesson, and every moment of unconditional love. You will live on in my strength, my memories, and the person I continue to become.
Rest peacefully dad, you are deeply loved and will be endlessly missed π
