Often known to the community as ‘Miss Els” due to her role as a kindy provider in Mossman. Els loved her home and garden. It would provide a place to reflect, share stories, educate and was a place to nurture the body with good food and soul, in eclectic surrounds. Els was a lifelong-learner and sharer of knowledge, including her ‘found’ wisdoms. A passionate social advocate, she was accepting of a diversity of views and people. Whenever needed, she rolled up her sleeves or welcomed you through her doors, with acceptance and love. She was a woman who knew her own boundaries, but was always thinking of others, to her last breath. Mother to Ben and Michael Blankenberg and their wives Elise and Melanie. Partner to Adrian Koek. Grandmother to Rowan and Elena.
