Much loved daughter of Lilian and Thomas Naughton and loving sister of Charles. Beloved wife of John (dec.), cherished mother of Catherine and Séamus. Mother-in-law of Ann and Robert.
Mary entered Eternal Life in her 95th year. A much-loved mother,
mother-in-law and friend, whose life was one of faith,
service and quiet generosity.
Born and raised in Eaglehawk, and passing peacefully in her beloved hometown, Mary’s life came full circle in the community she held dear and served so faithfully.
Mary’s life was deeply interwoven with her parish, her town and her faith. A Life Member of the Catholic Women’s League and the Eaglehawk United Friendly Society, she served her church and community with extraordinary dedication. For 76 years, Mary was organist at St Liborius’ and St Augustine’s churches, her music uplifting, comforting and inspiring generations of parishioners. Her ministry was an expression of prayer, offered faithfully week after week.
For decades, Mary also lovingly arranged flowers for the parish, quietly beautifying the sanctuary with devotion and grace. She was a Lady of Rotary alongside her husband John, reflecting a lifelong commitment to fellowship, service and community life.
Mary was a woman of deep faith, strong values and enduring kindness. Many sought her out for advice, reassurance and solace, knowing they would be met with patience, wisdom and a listening heart. Her calm presence and gentle counsel brought comfort to many in times of uncertainty and sorrow.
Her life was marked by service to customers of the family business, Coogate Store and Bakery, Post Master General, and through community and public life, reflecting a proud tradition of family and generational philanthropy lived humbly and consistently.
Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew her and whose lives she touched through faith, music, service and kindness.
Prayers are respectfully requested for the repose of Mary’s soul, and in thanksgiving for her 95 years of faithful service and love.
