HALIKOS, John
04 Mar 2026
Charles Darwin University joins the wider Northern Territory in mourning the passing of John Halikos, a respected Territorian, business leader, and valued supporter of the University.

Building both a successful enterprise and a life defined by community, generosity, and vision, he contributed significantly to shaping the modern Northern Territory and creating opportunities for countless Territorians through his work in construction, development, and hospitality.

At Charles Darwin University, John’s legacy is also felt through his strong support of cultural and educational initiatives. As a proud member of Darwin’s Greek community, he championed the preservation and celebration of Hellenic culture and was an early supporter of the University’s Hellenic Studies program, reflecting his belief that education should connect people to both opportunity and heritage.

John’s generosity and community-minded spirit embodied the values that underpin CDU’s mission to serve and strengthen the Northern Territory. His contributions have left a lasting mark on the University and the broader Territory community.

On behalf of the Guardians of Greek Language and Culture at CDU and the wider Charles Darwin University community, we extend our sincere condolences to his wife Kay, his family, and to all who knew and worked alongside him.
