It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Maurice Gerard Corcoran A.M. born on 25 August 1958.
Maurice was the beloved husband of Sheila, devoted father to Sophie, Martha, and Tom, and proud grandfather to Matilda, Alesia, and Murphy.
A passionate human rights advocate, Maurice helped draft the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and fought tirelessly for the rights of disabled Australians, including helping secure wheelchair-accessible public transport, and drafting the NDIS with the federal minister of health.
A talented athlete, Maurice set a Para swimming world record, reflecting the resilience and determination that defined his life.
He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, patience, and the positive impact he had on so many.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love, gratitude, and admiration.
