The Southern Riverina Cricket Council (SRCC) 2025 winter camp marks the beginning of the 2025/26 representative cricket season, and is aimed at players aged 10 to 15 years.
It provides a fantastic opportunity for young cricketers to sharpen their skills and showcase their abilities ahead of the upcoming season.
With the camp - which was held Sunday, July 6 and Monday, July 7 - now concluded, SRCC will now organise a series of training sessions to be held in Deniliquin, Moama, and Koondrook over the coming months.
These sessions focus on identifying talent across the Goulburn Murray, Murray Valley, and Swan Hill District Cricket Leagues.
From here, the Southern Riverina representative squads will be selected for the season.
The two-day camp included:
Expert coaching from regional cricket mentors;
Indoor net sessions at Deniliquin Stadium;
Outdoor training at Memorial Park, with a strong focus on batting and bowling, including one-on-one sessions using a bowling machine;
Fielding drills and skill development; and,
Team-building activities.
The camp was open to both boys and girls, with two sessions each day.
Meals were generously provided by Wayne and Cheryl Bradley, and on the first night, both players and coaches stayed at the Coach House Hotel Motel.
The evening included a team-building challenge where groups constructed toys to be donated to Deniliquin’s early learning centres - a great way to build camaraderie while giving back to the community.
The winter camp is a vital part of SRCC’s pathway to representative cricket and continues to grow each year.
More than 20 children attended the camp, featuring representatives from all three regions.
In November, SRCC will be back in Deni for the Colston Scammell Shield. This is a competition for 16 year olds.
They compete against Murrumbidgee, Northern Rivers and Cricket Albury Wodonga representative teams.
This is a selection game for the Bradman Cup, which is part of the NSW Cricket pathway.
