Charity Golf Day
The Wellbeing Golf Day proved a resounding success, bringing together players, volunteers, and supporters for a celebration of sport and community at the Finley Golf Club.

Put on by the Southern Riverina Wellbeing Collaborative, from the first tee to the final putt, the event was filled with energy, smiles, and camaraderie.
Organisers extended heartfelt thanks to the many volunteers who gave their time to ensure the day ran smoothly, as well as to the sponsors whose generous support made the event possible.
Special recognition was given to workers and helpers for presenting the course in spectacular condition, adding to the enjoyment of the day.
The competition saw Sel Corcoran, Andrew Corcoran, Bobette Wilkinson and Mark O’Brien crowned winners, while Colin McNamara, Peter Oddy, Geoff Corboy and Brian Bennett finished as runners-up.
Organisers said the day was not only about golf, but about fostering wellbeing and community spirit.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a success. Your commitment to wellbeing in our community means so much.”
With plans already under way, the Wellbeing Golf Day is set to return in November 2026, promising another opportunity for locals and visitors to come together supporting community wellbeing.

Finley
Last Wednesday was the ladies’ wind-up with 9 holes of golf, fancy dress, lunch, and presentations.
The wind and the ‘no putter’ rule made scoring difficult on the day; however, Tess Dean coped well and won with 15 points.
Ball winners were Maree Doyle, Helen Wastle, Janet Delmenico and Sue Simpson all with 13 points.
NTPs were Helen McRae on the 13th and Helen Wastle on the 18th.
The best dressed were Major Kim McCaw and Judge Julie O’Brien.
Competitions from December through to the end of February 2026 will be medley events, so ladies are still able to continue playing in competitions.
In the men’s stableford competition, the winner was Rand Wilson with 35 points on C/B.
Ball winners were Leo McNamara 35, and John Taylor 34.
In the 9-Hole Thursday competition, the winner was John Taylor, on 18 points.
Ball winners were Doug Smith, Mary Polkinghorne and Matt Daniel, all with 16 points.
Anyone interested in playing on the Thursday 9-Hole stableford competition, tee times are from 3pm until 5pm.
Groups will be drawn from those present at the time, or organise your own group (if playing later) and ring the club to let the starter know.
On Saturday, Finley Golf Club hosted the 2025 Southern Riverina Wellness Collaborative 4 Person Ambrose Tournament.
107 players teed off for a fun day and to support a great local initiative.
There were too many novelty event winners to mention, thanks to all the very generous local sponsors.
On Sunday, we hosted the ‘NALGA Riverina’ for golf and their Christmas wind-up for 2025.
Gale Tyers, with 36 points, was the best for the ladies, while Nathan Wilson was best on the day for the men with 38 points.
Thank you to those members who helped with catering and manning the bar.
The club competition on Sunday was medley stroke, and there was only a small field. Winner was James Braybon with 69 nett.
Ball winner was Billy Smith 71 nett, and Leo McNamara was NTP.
Berrigan
Friday's winner was Judy Karakai (48-15.5-32.5), runner-up was Jeff Stein (44-10.5-33.5).
Joe Nicholls won the putting with 13 putts and ball winners were Wayne Crew (51-17.5-33.5) and Chris Kelly (43-8-35).
Saturday's winner was Beau Walliss (43-9.5-33.5), runner-up was Chris Cameron (37-2-35).
John Walker won the putting with 11 putts, ball winners were Joe Karakai nett 35.5, Simon Packer nett 36.5 and Jeff Stein with 36.5 nett.
Sunday's winner was Joe Nicholls (91-20-71), who also won the putting with 29 putts.
Runner-up was Marianne Whelan (102-28-74), and ball winner was Chris Kelly (91-16-75).
This Sunday’s tee off will be at 9.30am, and comp will be stableford.
On Saturday, December 13, after the Chook Run, there will be Christmas drinks. All are welcome.
Tocumwal
Club Tocumwal was brimming with action and perfect spring weather last week.
On Monday was medley 9-Hole comp, played as stableford on the Captain's front nine.
