A record number of entries came in for the Deniliquin Table Tennis Tournament, held at the Deniliquin Stadium on Saturday and Sunday.

Players of every calibre from the ACT, NSW, Queensland and Victoria participated, with some excellent table tennis matches the result.
The event brought more than 100 visitors into town, boosting the local economy.
For players, it was a great lead up to the Table Tennis Nationals coming up in October and an opportunity to gain additional points towards their rankings.

The tournament had a friendly country atmosphere along with a strong competitive spirit; the camaraderie continuing with players attending a dinner at the RSL on Saturday evening.
Deniliquin Table Tennis Club senior players Ash Button, Andrew Griffiths, Judy James and Andrew McCurdy performed well against tough competitors.
And junior players Archie Beehag, Darcy Finn, Oscar Button and Kayne Button combined with four others from Echuca and Yarrawonga for two special events of singles and doubles.
Judy and partner Wayne Greaves were runners-up in mixed doubles in both the 60s and 65s events, and with partner Anne Bellion she was also runner-up in the women’s O50 doubles.
Archie was a bronze medallist in the junior singles, and Oscar and partner Niklas Meredith from Yarrawonga won the junior doubles.
Feedback from players at the event is that they are already looking forward to next year’s tournament!
