Picking up where the side left off Lachie lost the toss and we were sent in to field.
Lachie McDonald and Paul Stevens opened the bowling and bowled well without removing the openers.
Declan Cameron came on and did the job taking two wickets in two overs hitting some really great area and challenging the batsmen plus a great catch by Toby Chappell at first slip.
A returning Bryce Meloury made an impact with the ball bringing Chappell in to play again at first slip.
Shaun Goldman tried to impersonate an off-spinner which somehow removed the set Barooga batsmen with a good catch from Amal Aji in the deep.
Big Stuart MacGill - aka Sam Bennett - and Aji bowled a great partnership, with Bennett picking up one wicket and Aji taking three.
Aji had the batsmen guessing and rolled through the middle order, leaving McDonald to clean up the tail with a bit of Big Mac Special Sauce.
A really good bowling performance with lots of effort in the field leaving us 128 to chase.
Wicket takers were, Aji 3, Cameron 2, McDonald 2, Bryce 1, Goldman 1, and Bennett 1.
With the bat, Chappell and Brandon Meloury opened and were both gone cheaply, with the former the recipient of the duck hat.
Bryce and Goldman found themselves out there earlier than expected, but did a fantastic job rebuilding putting on an excellent partnership.
It only ended due to Bryce bringing up his 50.
Aaron Shepperd was in next and looked good until he was caught.
Bennett was in next and looked really good, playing some nice shots.
Goldman was finally removed for 38. This left Bennett (16 not out) to bring us home in the 25th over.
Batting highlights included Bryce’s 51 not out, Goldman’s 38, and Bennett’s 16 not out.
An excellent win to start back after the break.
The push for finals continues and we keep working to get better and not let this opportunity slip by.
