A five wicket hall from Andrew Lean was instrumental in securing the victory.
Day two of the match started with Katamatite 2-34 chasing 164 for victory.
Hunting their first win of the season the Toc team was up and about and ready for the battle.
They started well keeping it extremely tight with five straight maidens to start the day and at drinks Katamatite had only moved the score to 2/55.
The first breakthrough came when Andrew Lean got an LBW just after drinks, then Lachie Brennan who was extremely unlucky not to have more wickets secured the second to have Katamatite 4-73 off 39 overs.
Through the next session Tom White kept it tight from his end before taking a nice caught and bowled while Cooper Harris chipped in with the key wicket of Ben Lukies (21) caught brilliantly on the boundary by Lachie Brennan.
With Katamatite 6/103 Toc were in a good position but knew it was still going to be a fight right until the end.
All bowlers kept the pressure on not letting Katty take it away. After being hit for two sixes Lean managed to snare another key wicket of Daniel Parnell for 20, well caught by Michael Roberts at keeper.
With only three wickets left Katty needed 35 runs. Lean managed to the take two in two balls to put Toc in the box seat before Desmond O’Kane started farming the strike and hitting the odd boundary.
With six runs to work with things were getting tight and Lean bowled a short ball which O’Kane smashed towards the cover boundary only for Josh Wraight to pluck it out of the air at short cover for one of the best and most important catches our club has seen.
This was a real team effort with some fantastic fielding and tight bowling highlighted by Lean with 5/38 off 21.4 overs, Arthur with 2/24 off 17 overs and White with 1/12 off eight overs.
Equally many other bowlers kept the dot ball pressure on to allow this victory to occur.
It was a fantastic way to reward everyone’s efforts this year through a tough season with victory on the last day.
Under-17s
Last Sunday February 15 the lads travelled to Katamatite to play their semifinal.
The team lost the toss and were sent in to field.
Lucas Baron and Declan Cameron opened for us, with Declan getting our first wicket courtesy of a great catch by Max Thorburn, Lucas struck next and the lads had Cob/Kat 2/25.
The next bowling duo to go were Tom White and Chase Dickins who quickly got a wicket each to have them 4/34.
James White came on next and got the big wicket Eamon Hyde by taking out his stumps, to have them 5/61.
Lucas and Declan came back on getting three wickets between them.
A run out and Max getting the last wicket to have them all out for 115.
It was Tocumwal’s turn to bat and it just wasn't the team’s day.
With Archie Chellew (4) out early and Tom followed for 13.
The lads continued to lose wickets, Declan (8) and Lucas (12) put up some resistance.
Overall the team couldn't get a partnership together and the lads were dismissed for 57.
Not the result they were hoping for, but the lads tried hard against a good bowling attack.
It was our best bowling and fielding performance for the year the team work and camaraderie was a sight to see.
Making the finals is a great result for the team.
Thank you to all the under-15s who stood up to make sure we could field a side and all the parents that have transported and supported the team.
Last but not least Sunday was the last junior cricket game for the under-17s Captains, Tom White, Sam Bennett and Declan Cameron and we can all look forward to the great things they are going to do in their future.
