Although looming in front of them was an extremely dominant Katamatite team, looking to end their season in the elimination final.
Unfortunately, the other team succeeded in their mission at the Strathmerton grounds on Saturday.
From the first siren, the Saints knew they were outmatched, but that didn’t stop them from making it a tough day for the opposition.
The Saints’ backline was sensational all day, despite lots of football heading their way.
Their pressure around the ground was immense, causing Katamatite to mess up even the simplest plays.
But in the end, Katamatite secured a big win and the Saints’ reserves season is closed for 2025.
Final score: Katamatite 11.17 (83) def Berrigan 0.3 (3).
Stu Pyle and Steve Morgan patrolled the backline like lions, aggressive and ready to pounce on any footy that came their way.
Alex Park was terrific as always, enjoying some time back in the reserves. His athleticism and marking prowess is a godsend in reserves football.
Noel Baxter finished off yet another year in terrific form, as it seems nothing can stop his hard footy ways.
Overall, a great season for the Berrigan reserves, who will look to build on its foundations and come back better for 2026.
Thirds
The thirds made the short trip to Tocumwal on Sunday for the second elimination final, also coming up against Katamatite.
It was a fairly evenly matched game, with only two points in it at the end.
Luckily for the Saints, it was in their favour.
Final score: Berrigan 5.6 (36) def Katamatite 5.4 (34).
The best players for Berrigan on the day were Jeremy Packer, Kaleb Litchfield, Ayden Good, Austin Ware, Clem Surrey and Hudson Ware.
Playing in qualifying finals this weekend are the seniors and fourths footballers, and the under-17s netballers.
