The Berrigan Saints were back to footy this week after a league bye, and returned in style recording an impressive 72 point win over Strathmerton.

Berrigan stamped their authority early winning consecutive centre bounce clearances to start the game with the forwards capitalising on their opportunities, giving the Saints a 28 point lead at the quarter time break.
The rest of the game followed suit as the Saints’ margin continued to grow.
Chris Nield was terrific up forward kicking five goals and also creating a plethora of opportunities for his teammates.
Lochie Conboy again dominated in the midfield and hitting the scoreboard with three majors continuing his incredible form. The Whelan brothers, Tom and Matt, were terrific, both playing smart football in the backline.
Matt Ross rucked superbly giving the midfielders first use at the stoppage. Keith Tallent continued his goal kicking performances with four goals to go along with his usual countless pressure acts.

It was a terrific team first win by Berrigan highlighted by nine individual goal kickers and leaves the Saints sitting fourth on the ladder with 10 wins and four losses.

Reserves
The Berrigan Reserves travelled to Strathmerton fighting to keep their finals hopes alive. Strathmerton took control of the game early as the Saints added a couple more to their injury list, leaving them playing one short on the field.
Strathmerton stayed in the driver’s seat for the match all the way until the last quarter when the Saints flipped the script and went on a five goal unanswered, run cutting Strathmerton lead in half but still not enough to capture the win.
Alex Park starred for Berrigan after a few weeks off with injury; he came back rejuvenated taking pack marks and willing the Saints forward. Fraser Haintz was terrific, finally getting back to a full bill of health and coming off half back he was breaking tackles and taking intercept marks.

Kobey Dickson’s rapid improvement this season hasn’t gone unnoticed as he played his best game of the year.
It was a disappointing loss for the Saints who will look to get back on the winner’s list against Katunga this week.

Thirds
It was a tough loss on the road this week for the thirds. Credit to the players who battled hard all game and stuck up for each other.
