It was a beautiful day on the course for our Ladies 4BBB on Tuesday. The course was in great condition and the food was beautiful, thanks to all of the members who helped cook, clean and prepare the course. Thanks also to Nichol Trading, who was the sponsor of our day.
We welcomed visitors from Quarry Hill, Belvoir Park, Rich River, Lockington, Campaspe, Rochester, Elmore and Mitiamo.
Winners of the day with a fantastic score of 48 points were Barb McCarty and Julie Leahy. Runners-up on a countback with 46 points were Anita Ward and Louise Williams from Denise Pappin and Jacinta Blencow.

Sunday was a fantastic day for a two-person ambrose competition.
Winners of the day were Leon Laffy, Ray Hanson and Neville Vicary with 70-9-61, from runners-up Mel Warren and Shane Dyson with a score of 74-10-64.

Rochester Golf Club
Reigning Ladies Champion, Louise Williams leads after the first round in this years Championship after her 91 from Karen Taylor on 98. Best net score was from Sue Duguid 102-29-73, Williams,Taylor & Barb McCarty all on 75. McCarty (8th), Williams (16th) & Duguid (straight drive on 10) were nearest the pin winners.
Veteran Laurie Jackel's love of the short 12th hole was once again evident on Saturday’s par round where after nearly holing out in Wednesday's nine-hole event his shot to within 1m not only won the Campapse News Eagles nest, but also took out first prize with a fine +2 off the blue markers. Bruce Bryant was runner-up from Ian Pollard both on +1. Alex MacQuibban was next best on square from the following: Darren White, Dan Dockery, Chris Eeles & David Gebbie, all on -1. Bryant took out nearest for his 2nd shot at Paul Evans sponsored 3rd, Peter Anderson (5th) & Jackel also took out the straightest drive on 10 and, as noted earlier, his great shot to 12.
Liam Keenan and new golfer Anthony Leddan won the semi-final of the club's 4-ball match play championships against the big hitting pairing of Scott Wileman and Paul Colyvan 4/3; the winning pair now goes on to play Bruce Bryant and David Gebbie.
Wednesday 9-hole social golf was a 4-ball stableford played on the back nine. The winning pair were Peter Anderson and Laurie Radley with 25 points. Runners-up on a 3-way countback were Alex McQuibban & Richard Feuk from Brendan McCarthy & Dan Dockery and Chris Eeles & Laurie Jackel all on 23 points. NTP on the 12th was a great shot from Laurie Jackel.
Next Saturday’s monthly medal will be played off the short course white markers, hit off from 11.30am. Don't forget to organise your teams for the Rochester Electrical 3-person Ambrose (any combination) on Saturday, July 23, and the popular St Joseph's 4-person ambrose (any combination) on Saturday, August, 6.
Campaspe golf notes
This week’s event was Pa,r and Paul Pappin romped home to take the honours from Denise who managed runner-up and she also had the NTP on the 5th. Kevin Burrow managed to get the straightest drive. We also had visitors from WA. Congratulations to Denise on coming 3rd at Bamawm 4BBB with Jacinta and on winning the gross event for division 2 at Raywood. Next Sunday is stroke and monthly medal.
Elmore golf notes
In ideal conditions golfers took to the course for the 2nd round of the Rochester Tyres Event. Nick Gibbs wonon the day, with Sam McLeod and Greg Holmberg runners-up. Super Pin was won by Greg Holmberg, NTP on 4 Sam McLeod, NTP on 10 was Luke Price. Reminder that the club championships start 1st round on Sunday, July 17. The course is in perfect condition so the challenge is on.
Rochester Bowls Club
This week there will not be any Carpet Bowls or Wednesday Pairs due to the level of Covid cases around.
Indoor Bias Bowls is on Monday nights.
On 4/7/22 the winning team was Anton Gusak, Kathy Williams and Judy Murray. Hoping for a good roll-up on 18/7/22.
Wednesday Pairs (July 6) results. This week we were especially lucky to have weather better than we get in Jan/Feb, which meant we enjoyed a great day’s bowls with 12 teams on six rinks. There were four lots of 2 game winners who played off to the yardstick. The winners with 3 in the yardstick were Tim Quinlan and Allan Benson, with Brian and Bev Trengove runners up with 2. There were a few wrong biases but no names as the writer was one of the select few.
Reminder. Membership subs are now due. Full membership is $180, but if paid before end of July, receive a $10 discount and only pay $170. Junior membership is $60 and social membership is $30.
Weekly Coaching Classes of Lawn Bowls will commence on Thursday, August 4 at 10 am.

Lockington golf notes
Golfers played a par round on Saturday, and it was Ron Dixon with a return to form, an excellent score of +4 to be best on course and win the Privilege Cup, as well as B Grade honours. Jeff Carnie (square) was the distant runner-up in B Grade.
Gary Milligan played some terrific golf to finish +3 and win a competitive A-Grade ahead of Kevin Humbert (+2), Jason Wakefield (+1) and Terry Thomas (square). Andrew Glatte (+1) won C-Grade on a countback from Tom Scurrah.
Nearest the pins: 7th – Barry Graham; 2nd shot 11th – Grant Humbert (A), Barry Graham (B), Andrew Glatte (C); 2nd shot 18th for the 6-pack smack – Grant Humbert.
Spike’s Longest Drive on the 2nd, sponsored by Hot ‘n’ Cold Plumbing – Grant Humbert (A), Ron Dixon (B), Tom Scurrah (C). Neither the Echuca CIH eagles nest on the 3rd, nor Captain Bricka’s yardstick prize on the 16th was won.
Two more Handicap Matchplay first round matches have been decided. Jason Wakefield defeated Jeff Carnie 1-up in a tight contest, while Terry Thomas was simply too good for Grant Humbert, winning 3 and 2.
Last Friday the ladies played a stableford round, with Annette Brereton the winner with 36 points, in a tight finish from Pauline Humbert (35). Next best were Sherryl Jones and Marg Eade, both with 33. Nearest the pin: Annette Brereton.
