With a large crowd in attendance, the day remained a success as a result of community support, mainly through pre-booked packages.
Jerilderie Race Club secretary Alecia Williams said free entry was introduced and a metropolitan bookmaker still attended to facilitate betting on the TAB races.
“The grand final (shown) on the big screen was a huge hit, and the AGnVET Fashions on the Field was hotly contended,” she said.
“For the children, there was a best-dressed AFL Kids Competition and face-painting.
“The marquee area and umbrella area was fully booked, with a capacity crowd trackside, all making the most of the lovely weather we had on the day.”
Classic Lady of the Day was Cath Brooks (centre) from Barooga.
As part of the trackside celebrations, two long-time committee members were awarded life membership to the Jerilderie Race Club on Saturday.
They were Jerilderie horse trainer Ross Purcell and club treasurer of many years Robert ‘Bob’ Adamson.
A 100 club prize draw the previous evening at the Jerilderie Sports Club was very well attended and a bumper night for the club.
Winners of the prize draw were Victor and Gina Stonnill, with Lachie Leeds runner-up.
Juila Greiner of Crops & Sequins Styling organised and ran the Fashions on the Field on Saturday.
Harry Stonnill of Jerilderie took out the Man of the Track.
