The decision comes as the fast‑growing sport continues to surge in popularity across Australia.
Known for its fun, social atmosphere and easy‑to‑learn format, pickleball blends elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis.
It’s played on a smaller court with paddles and a perforated plastic ball, making it accessible for players of all ages and fitness levels.
The introduction of pickleball reflects the club’s commitment to evolving with the community’s interests.
Pickleball is a fast-growing sport known for its fun, social atmosphere and easy-to-learn format.
Pickleball has taken off around the world, and we’ve seen increasing interest right here in town.
It’s a fantastic way to stay active, meet new people, and enjoy some friendly competition.
Long‑time tennis members have already shown enthusiasm for giving the new sport a try.
Many say they enjoy the fast rallies and the lighter physical demands, while newcomers appreciate how quickly they can pick up the basics.
The club hopes the addition will attract families, retirees, and anyone looking for a welcoming, low‑pressure way to get moving.
Whether you’re a seasoned tennis player or you’ve never held a racquet before, pickleball is a brilliant entry point.
To support the new activity, the club has converted one of its existing synthetic courts to accommodate 2 pickleball courts.
The club has organised two come and try sessions on Wednesday, March 25 at 5.30pm and Sunday, March 29 from 10.00am to 1.00pm.
All the equipment is supplied so you only need to turn up and club members will provide you with some tuition on the rules of the game.
It’s hoped that we will see social sessions that will run weekly, with plans for coaching sessions and mixed‑ability competitions later in the year.
Anyone interested in joining a session or learning more can contact the club president Greg Filliponi on 0428 185 494.
