THE MURRAY RIVER WILL GET ITS ANNUAL SHOWCASE AGAIN THIS YEAR AS THE MASSIVE MURRAY PADDLE FLOWS THROUGH THE REGION.

The event sees paddlers cover 415km of river over five days, starting from Yarrawonga.
Stop-offs are made at Tocumwal, Picnic Point, Moama, and Torrumbarry before the concluding leg sees paddlers finish up in Koondrook.
Last year was the first where paddlers completed that final leg, with various factors preventing that part of the course from being used.
“We’re very positive, it’s all well on track,” organiser Shannon O’Brien said.
“We’ve seen (that) although we’ve still got a few months left for people to register, we’re still already above what we were last year, which is really promising.”
There are options to take on the paddle, solo or in teams, or even split the legs in a relay.
Kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards are all supported, with any type of paddler accepted.
Participants are encouraged to raise money for a cause of their choice, with Massive Murray Paddlers raising more than $1.2 million since 2016.
More than 300 paddlers are signed up for the 2025 event so far.

“It’s already in a very good direction, but I think it’s the type of people who are re-entering,” Shannon said.
“They’re big community groups, and I think that is more in the spirit of what the race is evolving into.”
The Massive Murray Paddle will be held from Monday, November 17 to Friday, November 21.
Paddlers will finish leg three at Moama Beach on Wednesday, and leave from Moama on Thursday morning.
