Five local girls featured in the Murray Bushrangers first round of the NAB League Girls against Bendigo Pioneers at the JC Lowe Oval, Yarrawonga on Saturday.

Maddi Ibrahim, Hannah Loughnan and Georgia Thomas were among 15 debutants who played in the Under 17s Futures match which featured a very young side of mainly 14 and 15-year-olds. After a great start the young Bushrangers eventually lost to Bendigo 5.3-33 to 10.9-69.
Ava Loughnan and Paige Duffy played in the Under 19 NAB game which was described by senior coach Mark Brown after the game as one of best games he had seen in the Under 19 Girls competition.
The Bushrangers controlled most of the game and successfully overcame a comeback in the third quarter by the Pioneers winning 13.10-88 to 7.9-51.
