Levi recently competed at the Combined High School State Athletics championships in Sydney, from September 10-12, representing the school in the 12-year boys’ events.
He did extremely well, winning a gold medal in the high jump, jumping 1.57m, and silver medal in long jump with 4.95m – a new PB!
He came eighth in the 200m, making the final but unfortunately had to scratch in the 100m due to injury.
Levi was a little disappointed with his high jump performance as he knew he had more to give, but was happy for the win after struggling with a leg muscle injury.
Having competed so successfully in these championships, Levi decided to go back to Sydney for the NSW All Schools Championships last weekend.
Again, he did extremely well.
On Saturday, he jumped a massive 5.38m to get the silver medal, and had a new PB in the long jump.
His goal was to jump over 5m and succeeded in doing so in all four jumps, so was very happy with his performance.
On Sunday, he competed in the high jump and won the gold medal with a jump of 1.62m.
Levi performed incredibly well, despite some anxious moments for his parents Ashley and Randall.
He dug deep and came away the winner once again for NSW.
Levi’s intention of competing at this level with the best in the state is to see where he is up to, and where he needs to adjust and train to keep the title.
He is very excited for this season of athletics and is looking forward to getting better and stronger in his journey.
Levi and his parents would like to make special mention and thanks to Ken Gardiner at Finley Little Athletics for always coming through for him and taking the time to go down and allow Levi to get the mats out and train.
They would also like to thank Finley High School principal Jeff Ward, teachers, staff and students, all who took time to watch the live stream and to congratulate Levi.
Levi's amazing jump was celebrated at the championships venue.
