Juniors poll well in league counts

Jerilderie’s Lara Hercus and Berrigan’s Jordan Swann have taken home top honours in the Picola District Football and Netball League junior vote count.

Lara was crowned the league’s under-13s best and fairest, while Jordan was recognised as the league’s top goalscorer in the thirds, kicking 70 goals in the home and away season.

The awards were presented at the PDFNL Junior Vote Count, held at the Moama Bowling Club on Monday evening.

The league’s best junior football and netball talents were invited to attend.

Tocumwal and Berrigan Football Netball Clubs both had seven junior players invited to the night, while Blighty and Jerilderie Football Netball Clubs had four players each.

Each of the players invited to attend finished in the top 15 of this season’s vote counts in their respective grades.

Tocumwal juniors that attended the vote count were Adrienne Jones, Chace Brunskill, Harrison Wilson, Indianna Borg, Lilly Grieves, Marlee Burke and Oliver East.

Lara Hercus was crowned Picola League 2026 under-13s netball best and fairest.

Berrigan players invited were Jack Magill, Jack Phillips, Jordan, Lachlan Whelan, Maddie Rice, Thomas Baxter and Emilee Sneddon.

Blighty was represented by Daniel Burn, Ella Charlton, Gabbi Dunmore and Lily Petersen, and for Jerilderie there was Lara, Milla Rorato, Ruby Neessen and Logan Eldridge.

Jerilderie’s Ruby Neessen also had a top-two finish, finishing runner-up in the under-17s netball best and fairest.

It followed a strong season on court, and backed up her under-15s league best and fairest from last season.
