The Jerilderie under-15s netballers put up a spirited fight in the Picola and District Football Netball League grand final against Deniliquin on Saturday, before eventually going down.

Coming up against the unbeaten Rovers, the Demons started strongly and matched their opponents with a determined brand of netball.
Mid-courter Jacinta Eldridge was outstanding, applying relentless pressure and forcing the Deni centre to work for every ball.
In the goal ring, Ruby Neessen and Stella Williams combined well, finishing with some excellent shooting, while wing attacks Phoebe Hennebery and Abby Mitchell impressed with their movement and delivery into the circle.
At the defensive end, Eliza Godfrey, Sama Swaid and Lara Hercus worked tirelessly against Deni’s tall and polished attacking line-up, ensuring the Rovers had to earn their opportunities.
Jerilderie stayed within striking distance until three-quarter time, before Deniliquin found another gear to pull away in the final quarter.
Although the result didn’t fall their way, the Jerilderie girls can hold their heads high after a brilliant season that saw them reach the ultimate game.
