Jerilderie course closed but events planned

The rising Billabong Creek floodwaters have had an impact on Jerilderie golf over the past week, with the course closed as it was too wet.

The Sports Club annual general meeting was held last week, with the following elected to the Board of Directors for 2022-2023:

President John Simpson; vice president Mark Fitzpatrick; secretary and licensee Victor Stonnill; and treasurer Phillip Gregory.

Directors: Dianne Rutherford, Janelle Dickson, William Williams, David Hercus and Stephen Scott.

On Melbourne Cup Day there will be a Ladies Luncheon from 11am.

The cost is $50 per person, which includes a three-course lunch, lady of the day, etc.

This is limited to 60 guests and bookings are essential.

Presidents Cup is Sunday, November 6, a two-person Ambrose Stableford.

Register from 8.30am for a 10.30am shotgun start, at $50 per team.

Prizes will be on offer for golfers and non-golfers.

Tuesday, October 11 was Stroke and the continuation of the Ladies Club Championship on the President’s course.

Saturday's winners were Gail Browne and Chris Kelly (44-7.5-36.5), runner-up was Matt Whelan (43-1.5-41.5), and putting was won by Jeff Stein with 13 putts.

Sunday's winner was Matt Whelan with 32 points, runner-up was Lachlan Whelan with 29 points and ball winner was Chris Kelly on 29 points.

Next Saturday is a two-person ambrose and farewell for Jeremy, Kerrie, Lachlan and Jessica O'Dwyer.

Golf will be 11am for a 11.30am tee off at $25 per person, which includes a barbecue lunch, where all are welcome.

Please note the farewell will still go ahead at the Community Club if weather is not favourable for playing golf.

Presentation will start at 4.30pm.

Last Sunday, the golfers held a golf meeting and decided Friday night golf will start from 3pm onwards to 5pm for players to be in the golf competition.

Cards will be at the front of the clubhouse and after nine holes can be left at the bar with competition fees.

This will start in November.

Finley

There was no Finley golf this week because the course is too wet.

The Finley Golf Course is currently under water in some areas.
