It was a great team effort by Finley A grade to defeat Tungamah on Saturday in Murray League netball.

The defensive pressure was excellent right from the first whistle, as was the timing of leads.
Savannah Wilson was again a standout in defence, as was Tiarna Burke who was fantastic in the mid court.

It was a tight, hard fought four quarters in B grade with Finley pulling away in the last seven minutes.
Nicola Denny was again brilliant in the mid court, as was Sharni Sykes who provided lots of strong leads and made good position around the circle.
Wynta Brain and Rachael Orro were excellent in defence, creating many turnovers and pulling in loads of rebounds.

C Grade came away with a great win by four goals.
The team combined well, with Kirsty Clarke controlling the game with her experience in the centre position, earning her the Kelly Grain best on court.
Vanessa Geeves earned the Wingates award for her great drives and patience when feeding the ball into the ring.
The Daisy Mae’s awards went to our shooters in Jess Congram and Alex Russell who stood up well all day under some intense defensive pressure.

Tungamah got off to an early lead in the under 17s and Finley were unable to match it with them.
At training the side will continue to focus on making good choices with passes and treasuring the ball, leading forward and putting the pressure on in defence. If these are put into practice during future games the team will be more competitive.
Annabel Middleton did a fantastic job in defence, playing in front, going in for rebounds and getting plenty of taps and intercepts. She received the Finley Bakery award.
Niamh Mason worked hard in the attack end, driving forward to the ball and making good choices with her passing. It was great to hear her encouragement for all four quarters. Niamh received the canteen award.

The under 15s girls went down to Tungamah on the weekend, when unfortunately they were let down by a poor third quarter.
Cassidy Reynolds was a star running out an entire game in centre and never giving up while Jordan Gray once again dominated in defence.

The under 13s had a cracker of a game, and were up by 30 goals in the second quarter.
All players had the opportunity to try playing in different positions, which provided a great boost to their confidence.
The entire team played well and had fun.

The Finley Kittens had a tough ask against strong opposition in Tungamah. The girls are steadily improving their skills each week and their enthusiasm to the great game of netball is growing stronger.
